POLICY

How we collect, use, and protect your personal information.

1. Introduction

This privacy policy sets out how Made by Smidge, a trading name of Suncamper Pty Ltd (ABN 11 000 265 403), part of the Suncamper Group, collects, uses, discloses, and protects your personal information in accordance with the Australian Privacy Principles contained in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Information Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 2020 (NZ).

The Privacy Act 2020 (NZ) applies extraterritorially. That means it governs how we handle the personal information of individuals in New Zealand regardless of where Made by Smidge or Suncamper Pty Ltd is based. We take enquiries from and sell to customers in both Australia and New Zealand.

By using our website at madebysmidge.com or engaging with our services, you consent to the collection and use of your personal information as described in this policy.

We may also collect non-personally identifiable information such as browser type, operating system, device information, and website usage data through cookies and analytics tools (see Section 7).

3. How We Collect Information

We collect personal information in the following ways:

  • When you submit a contact or enquiry form on madebysmidge.com
  • When you use our online quote builder and submit your details
  • When you phone, email, or visit us in person
  • When you subscribe to our mailing list or marketing communications (for example, by ticking the optional marketing opt-in on our contact or quote request forms)
  • When you interact with us on social media
  • Through cookies and analytics tools when you browse our website

4. How We Use Your Information

We use your personal information for the following purposes:

  • To respond to your enquiries and provide quotes
  • To process and fulfil orders for our products

  • To improve our products, services, and website
  • To comply with our legal and regulatory obligations
  • For internal record-keeping and administration

5. Disclosure of Your Information

We may share your personal information with the following parties where necessary to provide our services:

  • Other entities within the Suncamper Group
  • Our authorised dealers and distribution partners
  • Third-party service providers who assist us with IT, marketing, communications, and business operations (see Section 7), including Google (Analytics and reCAPTCHA), ActiveCampaign, and Monday.com
  • Professional advisers including lawyers, accountants, and insurers
  • Government and regulatory authorities where required by law

We will not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to any third party for their own marketing purposes without your explicit consent.

Under Australian Privacy Principle 8, we may disclose personal information to overseas recipients, including Google (Analytics and reCAPTCHA), ActiveCampaign, and Monday.com, where necessary to operate our website and manage enquiries. Before doing so, we take reasonable steps to ensure those recipients handle the information in a way that is consistent with the Australian Privacy Principles, or we otherwise comply with the requirements of APP 8.

Under Information Privacy Principle 12 of the Privacy Act 2020 (NZ), we may disclose personal information to overseas recipients, including Google (Analytics and reCAPTCHA), ActiveCampaign, and Monday.com, where necessary to operate our website and manage enquiries. We will take reasonable steps to ensure that any overseas recipient protects the information in a way that, overall, provides comparable safeguards to those in the Privacy Act 2020 (NZ), or we will otherwise comply with IPP 12.

6. Data Security

We take reasonable steps to protect your personal information from misuse, interference, loss, unauthorised access, modification, or disclosure. This includes using secure hosting, encrypted connections (HTTPS), and access controls on our systems.

However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is completely secure. While we strive to protect your personal information, we cannot guarantee its absolute security.

7. Third-Party Services & Cookies

We use the following third-party services in the operation of our website and business. Where a service sets cookies or similar technologies in your browser, it is listed below with the consent category it falls under.

Cookie categories

When you first visit madebysmidge.com, a cookie consent banner lets you accept all cookies, reject non-essential cookies, or manage preferences by category. You can change your choices at any time using the “Cookie Preferences” link in the site footer. We store your choice locally in your browser and will ask you to confirm your preferences again after 12 months.

  • Necessary— always active. Required for site security, spam and bot protection, and core functionality. Cannot be switched off via the banner.
  • Analytics— optional. Helps us measure website traffic and understand how visitors use our site.
  • Marketing— optional. Includes ActiveCampaign site tracking, which links browsing behaviour on our website to marketing automation in ActiveCampaign. This script only loads if you grant marketing consent. We may also use this category for future advertising tools such as Google Ads or Meta Pixel if we add them later.

Google Analytics 4 (Analytics)

We use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) for website analytics and traffic measurement. GA4 collects data about how visitors interact with our website, including pages visited, time on site, and referring sources. GA4 only sets analytics cookies if you grant analytics consent in our cookie banner. Google may process this data on servers located outside of Australia and New Zealand, which may include the United States. For more information, see Google’s Privacy Policy.

reCAPTCHA Enterprise (Necessary)

We use Google reCAPTCHA Enterprise on our contact and quote forms to protect against spam and automated abuse. The reCAPTCHA script loads on all pages so it is available when you submit a form. It is a security and anti-fraud tool, not an analytics or marketing cookie, and is treated as a necessary service. Google may set cookies or use similar technologies as part of this service, and may process data on servers located outside of Australia and New Zealand, which may include the United States. For more information, see Google’s Privacy Policy.

ActiveCampaign (Server-side CRM and Marketing site tracking)

We use ActiveCampaign in two ways:

  • Server-side (contact records and email lists) — when you submit a contact form or quote request on our website, your name, email address, and phone number are sent to ActiveCampaign from our servers so we can manage your enquiry. You are only added to a marketing email list if you tick the optional marketing opt-in on that form.
  • Client-side site tracking (marketing category) — if you grant marketing consent via our cookie banner, we load ActiveCampaign’s site-tracking script (vgo/diffuser) in your browser. This links your browsing behaviour on madebysmidge.com to your ActiveCampaign contact record for marketing automation. The script does not load unless you grant marketing consent.

Information held in ActiveCampaign may be used for follow-up communications relating to your enquiry. Marketing communications about our products and services are only sent if you tick the optional marketing opt-in on our contact or quote request forms. You can unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link in any email, or by contacting us directly. ActiveCampaign may process your information on servers located outside of Australia and New Zealand, which may include the United States.

Monday CRM (Server-side only — not browser tracking)

We use Monday.com as a customer relationship management (CRM) platform for lead and enquiry management. When you submit a contact form or quote request, relevant details are sent to Monday.com from our servers so our team can follow up on your enquiry. Monday.com does not set tracking cookies in your browser through our website. Monday.com may process your information on servers located outside of Australia and New Zealand, which may include the United States.

8. Access and Correction

You have the right to request access to the personal information we hold about you, and to request that we correct any inaccurate, out-of-date, incomplete, or misleading information. To make a request, please contact us using the details in Section 11.

We will respond to your request within a reasonable timeframe. In some cases, we may need to verify your identity before providing access to your information.

9. Marketing Communications

Our contact form and online quote request forms each include an optional, unticked-by-default checkbox labelled “Keep me posted on news, models and offers.” Submitting an enquiry or quote request without ticking that box means we will only use your details to respond to that enquiry or send that quote. We will not add you to any marketing email list.

If you tick the checkbox, you are opting in to receive marketing communications from us about our products, services, events, and promotions. We may send these by email, SMS, or other channels where permitted.

You can opt out of receiving marketing communications at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link in any marketing email, or by contacting us directly. We will process your request promptly, though please allow a reasonable period for the change to take effect.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology, legal requirements, or other factors. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
